Ms. Cousins provided a history of the "sustainability" concept, and it's various definitions.  She discussed a process for companies to follow to understand their very specific "triple bottom line" scenarios, and provided case studies of various firms that have addressed sustainability throughout their supply chains. 

November 14, 2007 Logistics of a Recall

A rash of recent product recalls from spinach to toys has many companies wondering just how difficult it is to handle a recall.  Handling a reverse logistics operation, particularly in an "emergency situation" requires an organized approach throughout one's supply chain network. Creating strategic advantage from a supply chain disruption requires a company to understand the dependencies within their supply chain, identify weak links and the risk associated with each weak link.

Tom Marchisello walked through a "day in the life" of a product recall scenario.  He described the types of recalls that might come about, and the plan and associated steps that Campbell's uses to respond.  Topics included assessing the threat, addressing the various factors, preparing for the information 'release' and responding to the actual recall, follow-up, etc.
