Environmental Sustainability – How Dannon has gone “Green”

September 24, 2008

The Dannon Company, Inc. is focused on creating a culture of “Eco-responsibility” throughout our organization. We are concentrating on educating and engaging all employees to gain their support and passion in making Dannon a more environmentally conscious corporate citizen. From a transportation standpoint, this means focusing on reducing our carbon footprint by using carriers with the most fuel efficient equipment, reducing miles traveled transporting our product, and promoting quick turn-around times at our DC and customer locations to reduce idle time and refrigeration needs. One major component of our continuous improvement efforts in these areas is our focus on increased participation by our carrier base in the Smartway initiative. In her session, Diane Van Wagner, National Transportation Manager at Dannon and leader of Environmental Sustainability efforts in their Supply Chain, will discuss how Dannon has made great strides over the past year in their effort to become more “Green.”
