Message From the President

Welcome to CSCMP-NYC!

This is your NYC and Tri-State source for professional development and networking with industry peers. Your CSCMP-NYC roundtable is a vital connection to increasing customers, and business associates and your knowledge of the industry. Almost 100 roundtables around the world serve to enhance your career and advance your profession at the local level. A global virtual roundtable is accessible through the web, as an option for those participants who are unable to share the same physical space.

As your president, I’m very excited about 2011-12, and look forward to meeting more of our members, welcoming new members, and collaborating with all stakeholders on value-add opportunities.

My predecessors have laid a great foundation for future success – and the most important way has been identifying great talent to represent the Board.  I’m happy to welcome back several board members, including past presidents Fran Chargar & Suzanne Richer, and already enjoying the energy of newer members.

CSCMP – New York is deeply involved in the supply chain community, and our board represents a cross-section of industries and functions.  As a roundtable, CSCMP-NYC focuses on stewarding success.  We execute this via two major areas of focus –

1.     Professional Development

From September through May, we conduct events focusing on the latest industry trends and issues.  We seek out content to meet the interests of all facets of the supply chain, from procurement to reverse logistics, and everything in between.  Adam Petrillo, our Programs Chair, welcomes your ideas.  Our Annual Symposium, generally held in April, is a full-day event hosted in conjunction with Syracuse University Whitman School of Management at Lubin House, here in Manhattan.  We also try to conduct an annual “Career Day” event for those mid-career looking for new opportunities; and work with our members in transition on flexible event rates.

2.     Developing New Supply Chain Talent

Each year our Rhoda Isaacs Scholarship Program, currently led by Barak Epstein, expands.  In 2011-12 we plan to award two scholarships (undergraduate and graduate), in addition to sponsoring an additional student at the Annual Global Conference.

We welcome fellow supply chain practitioners to attend our meetings, join CSCMP, and even sponsor the roundtable – one of the keys to driving our stewardship goals, and a great way to reach potential customers and clients.  Our sponsorship program has expanded a great deal in recent years, again, thanks to the efforts of our Sponsorship Chairperson, Ray Kuvonuk.

Please join us at one of our Upcoming Meetings – a great opportunity to network with fellow accomplished supply chain professionals.  Whether you’re looking to benchmark with peers, land your next big client, or learn about an interesting topic – this is the place for you.

My best,

Jorgette Marinez, President
